Personal number plates auction raises £2.7million in Dubai
3rd September 2007

A personal number plates auction in Dubai on Saturday raised almost £2.7million with the highest-selling plate, F33333, ending at £152,500.
The buyer, who opted to remain anonymous, bought seven personal number plates in total. His eighteen-year-old son, Reza, said he hopes his father will allow him to use the F33333 number plate on one of his eight cars.
The plates up for auction were all three, four and five digit D, E and F registration numbers. F88888 sold for £139,000, F66666 for £136,300 and F44444 for £135,000.
Ali Mohammad Al Jasem, Director of the Licensing Department at the Roads and Transport Authority said the auction was held to meet the wishes of the public who own personal number plates. More auctions are planned before the end of the year.
