Rare number plate commands over £100k on eBay
6th July 2007
A number plate auctioned on internet auction site eBay has reached bids of more than £100,000... and it still has five days to go!
The number plate, CEO 1, was placed on eBay by retired bank manager Derek Clements from Barrow-in-Furness, who says the plates would be ideal for any chief executive officer.
Mr Clements said: "EO was the Barrow registration before age-related numbers were introduced. I am being continually asked what I think it will go for and how much money I would like it to make, but we will just have to wait and see."
The final price is likely to be much higher, after VIP 1 sold for £285,000 last year, shortly followed by M 1 at £331,500. In the United Arab Emirates, however, an auction in June saw the number '5' sell for £3.5million.
The eBay auction for CEO 1 ends at midday on July 11.
