eBay personalised number plate auction record broken!

12th July 2007

Personalised number plates

A personalised number plate reading 'CEO 1' has been sold on eBay's online auction site for a whopping £154,100, becoming the most expensive car number plate ever to sell on the site.

Jody Ford, of eBayMotors.co.uk, said: "It goes to show that people will go to any lengths to get the perfect accessory for their car. However, personalised number plates are not just for the rich and famous. For a few hundred pounds you could buy a one-off registration that gives your car personality and be the envy of all other drivers on the road."

The of CEO 1, however, doesn't even come close to the British or world records for a personalised number plate. 'M 1' sold last summer for a British record £331,500, while a plate reading simply '5' sold for a staggering £3.5million in the United Arab Emirates in May 2007.
