Number plates crackdown in Sussex
13th August 2007

Motorists in Sussex are being warned to ensure that their vehicles are fully licensed, taxed and insured following a crackdown in the area.
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been set up around Sussex to catch drivers without a valid licence or insurance, by scanning their number plates.
Inspector Mark Trimmer, of the Road Policing Unit, said: "It is becoming very apparent that many people are still prepared to take the risk of driving without a license or insurance. Through continued activity of our patrols, we will continue to target these people."
"My message is, if you drive on the roads of Sussex without the necessary documentation, be prepared to lose your car."
Police around Britain are also on the lookout for drivers who display illegally-spaced or otherwise non-standard number plates on their cars. The rules on the display of number plates in Britain are strict and must be adhered to, or you could risk losing your number plates and having penalty points placed on your licence.
More information on the correct, legal display of number plates is available on this website.
