Number Plates News

Scottish number plates S'NOT happening!

14th July 2007

Number plates news

As much as most people would see SN07 number plates as an innocent combination of letters and numbers, the DVLA have deemed it 'offensive' and halted the issue of the series.

Scottish number plates, previously issued as SN05 and SN06 in the last two years, have been replaced this year by TN07, due to SN07 looking vaguely like the word 'snot'.

A DVLA spokesman said: "It is our policy that any registration mark that can be construed as being offensive to people will be suppressed. In this case, the SN07 marks would have been too similar to the word 'snot' and, as that could possibly offend some buyers, they were replaced with new TN07 registrations."

Whilst DVLA have deemed SN07 number plates 'offensive', there seems to be a fair few that have slipped through the net and even been auctioned directly by the DVLA in order to create revenue. PEN 15, ORG 45M, OO05 LUT, D1 YKE and H1 CNT are just some naughty number plates to be innocently issued by the DVLA.
