New theory over car registrations theft
19th September 2007

Thames Valley police have revealed their latest theory to explain the rising theft of car registrations - skateboarders.
Thefts have been reported around Bracknell, Berkshire, and usually only involve one stolen plate from each vehicle.
Local police state that the car registrations have not been used on stolen cars or to avoid parking tickets, speed cameras or congestion charging.
Deputy commander for the Bracknell Forest area, Inspector Michael Squire, said: "We've been getting up to three reports a week of number plates being stolen from vehicles.
"It has been suggested that car registrations may be used to reinforce the bottom of skateboards, but this has not been confirmed.
"Some time ago, there was a craze among young people for collecting the badges from cars and we are wondering if the number plate thefts are another fad."
