Ideal car registrations for Edinburgh 'snobs'
21st July 2007

Drivers in Edinburgh are due to get 'snob' car registrations next year, backing up the claim by other Scots that those from the capital are really rather posh.
The DVLA decided to allow the SN08 allocation of car registrations, despite withdrawing the SN07 ('snot') allocation last week. Instead, Edinburgh car registrations will begin with TN, rather than SN, meaning that the capital is the only Scottish region whose car registrations do not begin with the letter S.
A DVLA spokesperson said: "A group within DVLA meets bi-annually to review the appropriateness of car registrations prior to issue. The group has not met to discuss which 08 car registrations should be withheld."
