DVLA crackdown on bike tax evaders
27th July 2007

A new DVLA campaign against motorbike tax evaders has been launched this week, in tandem with the Royal Signals' famous White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team.
The DVLA's 'No Way Out' campaign aims to remind bikers not to take their bikes on the road if they have a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) served on the vehicle. All motorbikes require a valid tax disc to be used or stored on public roads.
The DVLA has also doubled its wheel-clamping operation in an attempt to curb the rise of untaxed bikes. To avoid clamping, towing or crushing, bikers should ensure that their bike carries a valid tax disc and is fully insured and roadworthy.
Suzi Perry of the DVLA said: "During the summer months it's all too easy to jump on your bike for a quick spin. But it's very important that all bikers ensure that their bikes are roadworthy and taxed, even if they don't use them regularly. That's why the DVLA supports the No Way Out campaign to promote rider responsibility."
