New Number Plate Format Confuses Drivers

Although the current UK number plate format has been in place since 2001, it seems many drivers are still unable to identify how old a vehicle is from its number plates.

It was revealed, after British Car Auctions (BCA) conducted a survey, that 33% of motorists who participated in the survey, could not tell the age of a car by its number plate.

The age of a vehicle has a massive impact on its value, and is an important factor when buying or selling a car. The survey confirmed that a quarter of motorists are unaware that the registration number of a vehicle reflects its age, potentially resulting in them being out of pocket when buying or selling a car.
