Cover for the brochure of the DVLA number plates auction dated the 10th of April 2002. The auction was held at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Gwent, South Wales.
This auction catalogue is notable for being printed in both English and Welsh. Simply flipping the auction catalogue allows the reader to view the same catalogue in the alternate language.
The auction got off to a strong start with AMM 4N breaking its £2,200 reserve price and selling for £10,800. A similarly valued plate, at £2,300, was W4 TER which eventually sold for a massive £25,500.
1 JJB sold for £15,000 - far above its £3,200 estimate, and 1 PGP, expected to reach £3,200, actually fetched £33,000 - over ten times its original estimate. DRA 60N, with an estimate of £2,100, reached £15,500.
S4 RAH was valued at £3,000 and sold for £17,500, whilst 1 JTL, valued at £3,100, went for £17,100. S7 EEL sold for £10,400 after it was estimated at £2,900.
