Cover for the brochure of the DVLA number plates auction dated the 11th of July 2003. The auction was held at the National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Three-letter number-ones were very popular at this auction, with 1 BCT, 1 EWM, 1 NKB, DAM 14N, 1 SOW, 1 SSN, 1 SWA, 1 SWG, 1 SWM, TFP 1, and WEK 1 all having opening reserve prices of £3,300. Meanwhile, 1 GDK, 1 HEF, 1 KEJ, 1 KFL, 1 KGK, 1 MNA, 1 MPW, NGM 1, and 1 WFH all had estimate of £3,400.
Opening reserves of £3,500 were applied to BSJ 1, 1 HSJ, 1 KHE, 1 KHG, 1 NCK and 1 VXN.
1 OO was also included in this auction with a reserve price of £15,000. It seems it didn't meet that reserve, as it was again put into auction in April 2006, where it sold for a whopping £156,000!
