Auction Brochures

Cover for the brochure of the Bonhams number plates auction dated the 29th of October 2002. This auction was held at The Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

There were plenty of high-value number plates on offer at this auction, with 28 B, 34 DM, 47 DR, 37 DT, 32 GH, 38 GM, 57 GS, and 48 H having starting estimates of £3,300.

1 BBF, CHR 15F, 66 DB, 39 DC, 69 DD, 1 JJE, and 29 JM were all valued at £3,400. With slightly higher valuations, at £3,500 each, were 1 CEJ, 36 DW, 1 HDL, 48 JP, 19 MS, 1 NSR and 69 OO.

1 HBR attracted a lot of attention with its opening reserve price of £4,000, as did NEC 1, whilst JP51 NGH was estimated at a comparably modest £3,700. 1 OSL was estimated at £4,500, and GSJ 1 and 1 SUK were expected to fetch at least £5,000.

KAP 1L was estimated at a respectable £5,500, and BAS 1 at £6,000, but the highest reserve price by far was for 1 MK at £15,000. However, the plate didn't successfully sell at this auction. Curiously, however, it sold at an auction two months later for £66,000!
