It is sometimes surprising to learn the lengths to which a car owner will go to have possession of his own distinguishing number plates. It has been known for a commercial vehicle to be bought especially for its number, then a passenger body fitted so that as a private vehicle the number can be transferred to the car of an important businessman or celebrity.

This book gives the history of many famous and unusual number plates. There are many photos of well-known people with their cars including film starts and T.V. personalities. All the cars, of course, have special number plates relating in some way to their owner. Profits from this book are being donated to the “Trueloves” Home for Seriously Crippled Boys, Ingatestone, Essex.
