Registration Numbers Club

Rally Success at Holker Hall

Another Registration Numbers Club rally has come and gone - a year passes quickly - with club members and guests enjoying an excellent weekend in north Lancashire and Cumbria. Holker Hall, near Grange-over-Sands was our venue on Sunday 27 June and the evening before many members joined us for the annual pre-rally dinner at the Lothersdale Hotel in Morecambe.

Setting up the rally field on Saturday afternoon had us wondering whether the event would actually happen as it was so wet even the sheep were sheltering. But true to form Sunday dawned bright and sunny and by mid-morning the rally site began to fill up with cars and an absolute feast of cherished registrations.

Nearly 80 vehicles passed through the gates of the Hall so to everyone who came along to both the dinner and the rally thank you for your support. Members competed for various prizes with the registrations being split into several classes such as No.1's, names, amusing, relevant to vehicle etc. A self-voting system is used and trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each class.

There are also a few special trophies, a longest distance travelled trophy and one for the oldest original number on display, this year being awarded to Michael King from the south of England with M 33.

We were fortunate enough to obtain sponsorship from two major registration numbers dealers to offset the not inconsiderable cost of staging an event such as this and for this we thank them.

Funds to bolster club finances were also raised with a raffle, prizes being donated by motor manufacturer MG Rover, RNC club office and members Bill Dewar, Paul Tibbles and Jeremy Wilkinson.

Thank you all for your generous donations and thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets, your efforts are greatly appreciated.
