Number Plate Stories
Rude number plates you should never show your gran

“People used to call out to me when they saw the plate on my car. They thought it must be Fiona driving by,” said Hanna. “I was stopped by the police on numerous occasions, just so they could have a closer look at the plate and ask me about it. It attracted all kinds of attention. One day I was driving through Windsor Great Park when the Queen rode past me on her horse with a guard either side. I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t tell if she thought the plate was amusing or not!”
Hanna has put the plate on the market a couple of times over the years, thinking that it is time to let someone else enjoy this infamous number. But each time she has decided to hang onto it, for just a little bit longer. “I don’t really think of it as rude,” she said, “I think of it as fun.”

To confidently go around with a naughty number on your car, you have to be a special kind of person. Former Motorcycle champion, Steve Parrish must be quite a guy, having owned the plate PEN 15 for many years. But poor Sue Burke refused to get in her husband Alan’s car when he bought the number plate ORG 45M. It all ended in an anti-climax when he sold it. The S4 UCY numbers, EA51 LAY, P9 RNO and SHA 61N are all available if you think you’re up to it!
