All number plates in Austria are made from metal, with a blue bar on
the left containing the EU emblem and national identifier.
The number plates are issued in the format of X-Y-1-Z, where X is
the regional identifier, Y is the state emblem, 1 is
an incremental set of numbers, and Z is an incremental
set of letters.
Personalised number plates are available for a small fee, with the format
of X-Y-Custom letters-Custom number. Austrian personalised
number plates are easy to tell apart from regular number
plates as the letters come before the number.
