Bulgarian number plates feature the blue European strip showing either
the European or Bulgarian flag, with the country identifier
BG. Number plates are issued in a black font on a white
background, consisting of a one- or two-letter regional
identifier, four digits and a two-letter code.
Cars imported from abroad for a limited period of time are printed in
blue with white characters and begin with the code
'XX' followed by four random digits and two small digits
denoting the year of expiry.
Both the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets are used on Bulgarian number
plates.
