Car number plates in Finland consist of three letters and three numbers,
although personalised number plates can use just one
of each.
Compulsory number plates were issued in 1922, although a similar system
had been used prior to this in some cities. Up until
1971, number plates had to be changed when moving across
province borders.
The number section may not begin with a 0, and the letter section may
not begin with P or W. Combinations including KGB,
FAT, HYH, HYI, and NAI are not used.
