The initial series of number plates ran from 1976 to 1991 and were on a dark blue number plate with silver lettering. The new and current number plate series started in 1992 and is on a brighter blue background with white lettering. It also has the country flag on an orange background. Diplomatic corps would have their own type of car registrations. In the 1970s this would be a blue number plate with “CD” on the plate. In the latest series of number plate formats, the diplomatic corps plates are orange with the “CD” displayed between sets of digits. Like the other current series of number plates, they also display the country flag.
