Located in the northern part of the east Arabian peninsula, Kuwait is surrounded by Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Car registrations in Kuwait are similar to the surrounding Arabian countries. The number plates are white with black lettering and a black border. The earlier number plates around in the 1960’s were black with white characters. It wasn’t until the recent series introduced in 1993 that all the characters on the plate were Arabic. In the new series the numbers are English, with ‘KUWAIT’ written at the bottom of the plate. All the previous series had only Arabic writing on them.
