Car registrations in Laos are a colourful affair with brightly coloured number plates used for different vehicle types. The current series came into effect in 1975. All vehicle registrations have Laos letters with English numbering. Civilian plates are orange with red characters, while government vehicles are blue with white characters. Military vehicles are red with white characters.
