Micronesia is a group of islands just to the north of Papua New Guinea.

The current series of car registrations in Micronesia were issued in 1997. The number plates are turquoise in colour with white lettering, with the country emblem on the left hand side, The format of the registration is four digits. At the top of the plate is the year of registration, and the name of the island. At the bottom is written ‘Federated States of Micronesia’. The previous series of car registrations ran from 1986 to 1997 and the number plates were green with a yellow border and yellow lettering. The 1984 series had blue lettering on a white number plate.
