Private vehicles in Norway carry number plates printed in black font
on a white background and also carry a tax stamp. The
tax stamp is mailed annually to every car owner who has
paid road tax, insurance, and MOT. The tax stamp contains
a bar code and changes in colour each year. If a car
is found with a number plate containing the wrong coloured
tax stamp, it is likely to be removed.
Number plates issued after November 1st 2006 also contain a blue stripe
on the left-hand-side of the plate, containing the Norwegian
flag and country identifer 'N'.
