Located in southern part of the east of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is surrounded by the UAE, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
The current series of car registrations in Oman displays both Arabic and English characters. On the left and bottom are the English characters, whereas the Arabic characters are to the top and right. The previous series of number plates also used to display the word ‘Oman’ in both English and Arabic. The present day number plates are yellow with black characters and a black border. Export plates are blue with white characters, with their format similar to standard number plates. The earlier series of vehicle registrations for commercial uses were black with white lettering. These were in use in the 1970’s.
