Located on the Central American Isthmus, Panama is bordered by Costa Rica and Colombia.
The current series of car registrations in Panama was bought into effect in 2004. The number plate itself is white with black lettering and border. There is an image of Panama's Centennial Bridge across the top of the plate with ‘PANAMA’ displayed over it. There is a smaller image of the bridge and the word ‘PANAMA’ displayed at the bottom of the number plate. The format of the registration was six digits with no letters. The previous series had Panama written across the left hand side instead of across the top. Over the years the previous series of vehicle registrations have had different colours used for the lettering.
