The current series of car registrations in Paraguay came into effect in 2002. The number plates are white with red lettering and a red border. The Paraguayan flag is displayed on the top left hand side of the plate, with ‘PARAGUAY’ written next to it. The format of the registration is LLL NNN, where L is a letter and N is a digit. Previous series of vehicle registrations had more oblong number plates, but still used red lettering and border on white plates.
