The current series of car registrations in Peru came into effect in 1975. The number plates are quite simple with no flag, country emblem or additional information apart from the letters ‘PE’ that appear on top of the plate. The format of the registration is LL NNNN, with L standing for a letter and N standing for a number. The previous series of vehicle registrations had the year of registration also displayed on the number plate.
