The present series of car registrations in Rwanda are on a white number plate with green lettering and a green border. The format of the car registration is LL.DD.LL, where ‘L’ is a letter and ‘D’ is a digit. The current series came into operation in 1979, where it replaced the previous series. The previous series of car registrations were quite similar to the current series, with the only difference being the colour of the lettering, which was blue.
