Located in the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean, Taiwan is off the coast of China.
Car registrations in Taiwan are on brightly coloured number plates, with different colours being used for various vehicle types. The current series of vehicle registrations came into effect in 1992. Standard number plates are white with black characters, with the format being LL – NNNN, where L is a letter and N is a digit. At the top of the plate are some Taiwanese characters. State owned trucks or buses have green number plates, while private trucks have red ones and private buses have blue ones.
