The current series of car registrations in Venezuela came into effect in 1995, and like surrounding South American countries it had an outline of the country shape as a background on the number plate. The plate itself it white with dark blue lettering. On top of the plate the word ‘VENEZUELA’ is displayed and at the bottom the state the vehicle was registered in is displayed. The format of the registration is LLL DDL, where L is a letter and D a digit. This format hasn’t changed much in the last thirty years or so
