Our aim is to provide a site that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

This also includes making improvements to the usability and functionality of the site. It is an ongoing endeavour.

1. Standards & Guidelines

Our website is built with Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in accordance with modern web standards. The site is functional and presentable on a wide range of devices and web browsers and using progressive enhancement in standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Our checkpoints are taken from the technical standards of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the BSI published PAS78 framework for web accessibility. Collectively the guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible and conformance will help make the web more user friendly for all users.

2. Exceptions

Whilst we strive to adhere to all the guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. Wherever possible we will provide content in alternative forms. We will apply Alt text only where the image conveys essential information - for example a diagram about how to do something. Where an image is purely decorative we may not include alt text so that users can reach essential information quickly. Any images that does not have alt text have an empty alt tag which is indicated using "".

3. Reporting problems

Please be as detailed as possible, stating your device, operating system, the name/version of your browser, the URL on which you are experiencing difficulties and a brief description of the issue.

The role of DVLA

Car registrations and number plates, including personalised number plates, in the UK, are the responsibility of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, usually known as the DVLA. It issues new registrations twice a year and also maintains the central database that records details of all vehicles licensed to drive on UK roads, along with their keeper and registration information.

Regtransfers works closely with DVLA to complete registration transfers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Regtransfers is a DVLA-registered supplier of personal car registrations and number plates and is listed on the DVLA Registrations website. All number plates supplied by Regtransfers comply with DVLA's prescribed standards and regulations.

DVLA administers all UK registration transfers and issues updated registration documents when the registration number of a car is changed, or when a registration is removed from a vehicle and placed on a retention document in accordance with the DVLA Retention Scheme.

Number plate regulations

When a car is on the road, it is an offence to display number plates bearing any number other than the vehicle's officially recorded registration number. If you purchase a private registration, learn how to transfer private plates before displaying the new number.

All registration number plates displayed on UK vehicles must comply with the official number plate regulations. DVLA oversees enforcement of number plates display regulations and maintains a register of approved manufacturers and retailers of vehicle number plates.
