Zambia is located in the centre of southern Africa. it is neighboured by D.R. Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola.

The current series of car registrations in Zambia was introduced in 2000. These have black lettering on white number plates, with an emblem of the country on the left hand side. The format of the number plates has stayed the same as the previous series and is LLL NNNN, where ‘L’ is a letter and ‘N’ is a digit. The previous series had bigger lettering and no country emblem. Temporary number plates have blue lettering and a blue border and number plates used on trailers have a ‘T’ at the end.
